Welcome Information

Welcome to the Aleppo, Sewickley, Glen Osborne Joint Planning Website

This website is devoted to the ongoing, coordinated planning work between the Township of Aleppo and the Boroughs of Sewickley and Glen Osborne.

In honor of its 125th anniversary, the Borough of Osborne has been given a new title: Glen Osborne. For planning purposes, the term “ASO” will continue to be used, as this acronym has become known in the area thanks to the successful projects the communities have undertaken in the past. All future full references to the Borough, however, will be as Glen Osborne. Coordination of the Zoning Ordinance Update will be underway shortly. Please check back frequently for updates.

Overview of Zoning Ordinance Updates

The Township of Aleppo and the Boroughs of Sewickley and Glen Osborne have begun preparations to undertake a cooperative zoning update.  The zoning update will consist of three (3) municipal ordinances; each community will retain its respective ordinance with corresponding administration and enforcement while sharing uses and enacting complimentary development standards. Zoning districts will be revised to provide the communities with a consistent set of provisions to guide future land development and redevelopment.  The Joint Steering Committee that was established for the development of the ASO Joint Comprehensive Plan will again lead the coordination and completion of the project.

Past Accomplishments
Past Accomplishments

Through the years, as the patterns of development and services within the Aleppo, Sewickley and Osborne region have evolved, residents now enjoy a unique “Town and Country” character that has proven to be desirable to many people. In order to sustain this quality of life in the coming years, the communities of this region began working to ensure that both their common and individual assets are managed sensibly and cost-effectively. This led to the development of a Joint Comprehensive Plan that sought to formalize this interrelated community development. The Joint Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2007.
